We are recruiting for a number of clients for part-time evening staff, Mon- Fri, 25 hours per week, 3.00pm – 8.00pm. Also full-time Mon – Sun, for Domestic/Cleaning, the shifts are 9 hours shifts and the staff would be expected to work Monday to Sunday. The work is predominately day work but on rare occasions may be expected to work night work. They would be paid at point 1 of the Pay scale attached to the Job Spec. The working week is 39 hours per week.

Cleaner/Caretaker Job Description


  • To take care of the premises and contents and to prevent as far as possible, any damage to the structure, furniture, fittings and equipment.
  • To keep the premises, furniture and fittings in a clean condition and all work undertaken will be of a skilled nature and would be expected to be proficient in the use of all the basic hand powered equipment.
  • To work indoor
  • To keep in a clean condition all glass in doors, windows, etc.
  • To maintain and clean the general corridors and associated areas on a daily basis.
  • To maintain and clean classrooms, staff rooms, offices and toilet & changing rooms as per an agreed schedule.
  • To liaise with maintenance staff on a regular and continuous basis.
  • To monitor the heating of the building throughout the year.
  • To activate and de-activate the alarm system if required
  • To exercise economy in the use of fuel and light throughout the building and to monitor and prevent all unauthorised use of same.
  • To keep in safe custody, the keys of all rooms in the building and to ensure that no unauthorised person has any access to any part of the building
  • To maintain the canteen in a clean and tidy manner.
  • To note and arrange for the receipt and transfer of stores, fuel, and other general material.
  • The cleaner should maintain confidentiality at all times regarding the customers using the services.
  • Collect and assemble waste for collection and keep waste area in a clean and tidy condition
  • To be responsible for carrying out Health and Safety checks including Fire, emergency lighting and to keep accurate and up to date records under the direction of the Centre Co-Ordinator/Estates Manager
  • To participate in training where new technologies are introduced
  • During holiday periods when the Centre is closed, routine cleaning may be undertaken throughout the building.
